Learners analyse one of the talk and music radio programmes broadcast by the radio station they have explored, including:

a) running order / b) DJs/ presenters

Breakdown of radio content and an analysis of presenter style

The show has a fairly equal ratio of presenter to guest to news. with a little big extra time in the news section. Having the news a little more prominent enforces the fact that it is a morning show as it heavily features the news. this is a common theme with radio shows to feature lots of news as it helps people learn about what is happening.

Both guests on the show are everyday normal people who would listen in to the radio show. Having these types of guests appeals to the listener as they can relate to topics the guests talk about on the show and means they can also share their opinion as they are likely able to call in to the show and share their opinions.

Having a balanced amount of time for the guests and presenter also appeals to the listeners as it means that the guests are viewed the same as the presenter is and makes the show feel like a show based around the listener, and makes them feel like they are part of the show.


d) target audience

The show is suitable for the target audience as it caters to all the viewers needs. It includes local news, weather and traffic updates which are all very helpful for local listeners as they would rather hear what is going on in Cambridge than what is going on in another city like London. The show is also uses proper English which makes the show more listenable to older audiences who the show is targeted at compared to a show like the BBC 1 Breakfast show which uses more slang.
